Should for Giving Advice/ Expressing Criticism

We can use  should (shouldn't) for giving advice as well as expressing criticism.

For giving advice we use should (shouldn't) + bare Infinitive.

  • You look tired. You shouldn't stay up late , you should have a rest.
  • You shouldn't eat this hot dog: it smells horrible. You should throw it away.
  • If you want to be healthy you shouldn't eat too much and you should do physical exercises.
If we want to express criticism about past events we use should (shouldn't) + perfect Infinitive

  • Sam failed his exam.

He should have worked harder. (but he didn't)
He should haven't skipped lessons . (but he did)

We are flying in the air, and across the sea
We're going to a really nice place to have a cuppa tea
When we see their flag in the air
then we know we're near
Oh boy, I can't wait to get there
The people are so very nice and full of cheer
Oh boy, I can't wait to meet them
We will have, so much fun
when we are in London
Double deckers and The Queen
When we're in London
Taxi cabs and Ringo Starr
When we're in London

Buckingham palace is great, it's worth the visit
Oh boy, it sure is amazing
and the Tower of London is big, you can't miss it
Oh boy, it's bigger than an elephant
We will have, so much fun
when we are in London
Double deckers and The Queen
When we're in London
Taxi cabs and Ringo Starr
When we're in London
The phone booths and the royal guard
When we're in London
A spot of tea with our friends
When we're in London

The Great Names of English Literature.Elizabeth Barrett Browning

1806–1861

Among all women poets of the English-speaking world in the nineteenth century, none was held in higher critical esteem or was more admired for the independence and courage of her views than Elizabeth Barrett Browning. (http://www.poetryfoundation.org/bio/elizabeth-barrett-browning)
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born on 6 March 1806 at Coxhoe Hall, County Durham, England. She started to write poems in her early childhood. And in 1820 she firstly got 50 printed copies of her narrative poem “The Battle of Marathon” from her father.
She continued her successful writing and published her works both in England, and America. Her works were highly praised and her popularity grew. That time she met Robert Browning, who, six years younger than she, wrote her a letter full of compliments on 10 January, 1845.
A year later they married and lived happily encouraging each other in working and creating.
The most famous book by Elizabeth Barrett Browning is  “Sonnets From The Portuguese” (1850). It  is Browning’s collection of forty-four Petrarchan love sonnets, written during her courtship with Robert Browning (1845 and 1846).

Now let's read and listen to one of her amazing sonnets !

How Do I Love Thee? (Sonnet 43)

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Sing a song : Be My Valentine!

There are  a lot of  lovely Valentine’s traditions . And performing songs about love is one of them . Let’s listen  to this wonderful song and get ready to say  words of love to our dearest people!

Be my Valentine

Won’t you be my
Won’t you be my
Won’t you be my valentine
Because I adore you
I’d give anything for you
You make me smile, smile, smile

And when I’m around you
Things get kinda hazy
Because I am crazy,
Crazy for you

I cannot describe it
Except that I am in love
Yeah, I’m feeling feelings
Feelings for you

And now I’ll shout to the world my love for you
The irresistible love that I’ve fallen into
Life is wonderful, cause you shine through
There’s no one that makes me feel like you do

And I will sing because your beautiful in all that you are
Like a clear night sky graced by a shooting bright star
So, won’t you be my, won’t you be my
Won’t you be my sweet valentine

Oh and, I will stay true
I will stay true, I will stay true, true to you
From the day that I met ya’, I couldn’t forget ya’
You stuck in my mind, mind, mind

Every time that you laugh, every time
that you smile
My heart it melts, I could stay here a while
And it’s pure satisfaction,
the kind of attraction
Chemical reaction, I have in my heart

And now I’ll shout to the world my love for you
The irresistible love that I’ve fallen into
Life is wonderful, cause you shine through
There’s no one that makes me feel like you do

And I will sing because your beautiful in all that you are
Like a clear night sky graced by a shooting bright star
So, won’t you be my, won’t you be my
Won’t you be my …
Sweet valentine

The Legend about Love

The Legend about Love

Once upon the time there were not men and women. These ancient people were stronger and wiser than gods. They could do everything and they were happy.

The gods didn’t like that. They decided to win people. But how to do that?

The gods thought much and at last decided to divide each person into two parts, a man and a woman, and mix them on the Earth. So they did.

Since that time people became weak. Each one tries to find the lost half.

Those who find each other fell in love and become as strong as gods. When people find their halves they will become stronger than gods again.

A nice legend, isn’t it? A legend is a legend, but love really makes wonders. Large love makes lovers better and kinder. And world around them becomes lighter, brighter and kinder.
